The audience will be longing for what happens next in the movie. In addition, the setting of the scene has run down buildings and seems very apocalyptic. This allows the audience to infer that the movie may take place in the future or somewhere where a war has occurred. The setting keeps the audience guessing and builds up tension and anticipation. Lastly, the director uses lighting on one side of the actor's face while it's dark on the other side. This allows the audience to infer that something bad is going to happen when it comes to no light on the actors. This again creates anticipation within the audience.
